When I was stationed in Bahrain, there was the hottest day ever. The sky was pure white. We had to stay indoors because we couldn’t be outside for longer than a couple of minutes. We still had to go work on the airplane. It was maybe 50 yards to the plane from where we kept our tools, and in that walk my boot melted into the pavement for a little bit. The tools seared our hands when we worked with them. We had to take buckets of ice water out with us so that we could dip them in and cool them off. The ladder was metal, I was holding metal, the plane was metal so everything was burning me and shining on me. If I remember anything else from Bahrain it will be that the engine just literally seared me.
